GOD BLESS AMERICA

These are prayers and poems I was e-mailed,
I don't know who originally wrote them,
but wanted to get them out here.
I wanted to share them with as many
of my fellow Americans as I can,
and this is the best way I know how.

Please pray for Our Country,
We need all of GOD'S BLESSINGS we can get.

Lord, we come to You on bended knee,
heads bowed and our hearts filled to overflowing
with so much grief for the many people who have
been injured and killed in our National crisis.

We ask you Lord, to give courage
and strength to those who so bravely
go to their aid. And though their hearts will
be heavy and filled with sorrow we ask Lord
that You give them the endurance needed
to help them through this difficult task.

Please give us the strength Lord,
to get through each difficult and devastating
day that faces each of us and our country.
Protect and guide our Military that
are now being called to duty.

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders
of our great country in their hour of decision.
The burden that has been placed on their
shoulders during this crisis is overwhelming.
We ask that with Your infinite wisdom you
guide them gently to the right decisions.

And lastly Lord, we ask that you
allow us all to come together as a Nation,
to stand tall and united, so that we might
help each other in our hour of need.

Amen

Dear Heavenly Father,
We are moved by the alarming news
and crisis that our country is facing.
This, the greatest nation,
founded in the belief that
"In God We Trust" & the
"Land of the Free".

Please have mercy on those suffering,
hurting and in fear, and give wisdom
& strength to those who are assisting.
May the forces of evil be broken by
Your power and may we be humble
before Thee, our strength and refuge.

Give wisdom to our President & all
our leaders and bring Your comforting
peace through the power of Your
Holy Spirit. Help us here to reach to those
that have been affected by this tragedy.

In the name of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
AMEN

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in
trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give
way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. "Be still
and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

                   Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11

As the World Trade Centers crumbled,
our lives were crumbled too,
So God, We're dialing 911
"We need to talk to you!"

We tried to see your face today,
but God we could not see,
The smoke and fire engulfed us,
we screamed, "How can this be?"

We're watching now with horror, God,
as thousands lose their lives
At the hands of cold cruel killers,
using planes that fly our skies.

We're weeping, praying, crying God,
our faith in You now wanes,
Where were you God this morning?
Who piloted those planes?

We know you love America,
you've blessed us many ways,
But God, this scene is so surreal,
the world is in a daze.

This Nation's "Under God," you know,
so will you please come near,
We need to feel your presence, Lord,
our lives are filled with fear.

We need your guidance now, Oh Lord,
we simply cannot cope,
This tragedy has ripped away,
our life, our love, our hope.

And God, these loved ones left behind,
need strength beyond compare,
Their lives are shattered, all is gone,
please show them that you care.

Please put your arms around them,
draw them close unto your breast,
Heal their wounds and mend their hearts,
hold them high above the rest.

As you summon Heavens angels,
to prepare them for the day,
And you wait at Heaven's portal
for our loved ones on their way,

Will you please be sure to tell them
that their lives were not in vain,
That freedom's bells though silenced,
will surely ring again.

We know your heart is heavy too,
as you stand at Heaven's door,
And watch these deadly scenes unfold,
through hate we so deplore.

Yes...Though freedom's bells were
silenced for a moment on this date,
They will ring out loudly once again,
as love outweighs the hate.

First we took GOD out of the schools,
and stopped teaching our people about Him.
We said public places were not for Him,
We took Him out of our pledge to our flag.
Now we say God, where were you?

I am happy to add that my son came
home from school today, he's in 2nd grade,
and excitedly told me that they circled
around the American Flag, pledging
allegiance, "One Nation, Under God"
and singing, "God Bless America"

Somewhere Over Pittsburgh
by Ralph Dahma

Something happened Tuesday morning,
Somewhere over Pittsburgh.

We may never really know
Just exactly what transpired,
But this much is surely so:
A Nation was inspired.

It was just another morning,
When from Newark they departed.
Then suddenly, without warning,
It seemed Armageddon started.

They were businessmen and mothers,
Not soldiers in the sky.
Fathers, sons and brothers,
Just like you and I.

"Should I watch the movie, or just rest?"
Seemed to be their biggest worry.
No one knew there'd be a test,
Or that this would be their moment of glory.

Something happened Tuesday morning,
Somewhere over Pittsburgh.

Someone shouted 'They've got knives!'
The movie no longer mattered.
Their dreams, their plans, their lives,
In an instant could be shattered.

Those who could, picked up the phone,
To say I love you, perhaps farewell.
But soon they learned they weren't alone;
The whole nation had entered Hell.

Was it really true?
They've destroyed New York's Twin Towers?!?
And then right away they knew,
They had minutes, seconds...not hours.

'We need to do something now,
We need to act as one.'
'Let's take a vote, let's figure out how,
But we know what must be done.'

Something happened Tuesday morning,
Somewhere over Pittsburgh.

Where did they get the courage just then?
Was it from family, from church, from school, from friends?
Whatever the reason, they acted like men,
And bravely stood up, as Americans.

There must have been a battle,
But neither side would yield.
The plane began to rattle,
Then slammed into a field.

They didn't plan on being heroes,
But what heroes ever do?
Now the rest of the world knows,
What Americans, united, can do.

So if your hero is some celebrity,
Or the guy who can hit one out,
Look to the skies above the Steel City,
And remember what heroes are all about.

Something happened Tuesday morning,
Somewhere over Pittsburgh.

For here's the rest of the story,
And the reason these folks we espouse:
Somewhere over Pittsburgh, Tuesday morning,
These brave Americans saved the White House.

On Monday there were people fighting against praying in schools
On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school
where someone was not praying

On Monday there were people who were trying to
separate each other by race, sex, color and creed
On Tuesday they were all holding hands

On Monday we thought that we were secure
 On Tuesday we learned better

On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes
On Tuesday we relearned what hero meant

On Monday people went to work at the world trade centers as usual
On Tuesday they died

On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property
On Tuesday the same people all said 'God help us all' while thinking' Thou shall not kill'

On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room
On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids

On Monday people picked up McDonalds for dinner
On Tuesday they stayed home

On Monday people were upset that their dry cleaning was not ready on time
On Tuesday they were lining up to give blood for the dying

On Monday politicians argued about budget surpluses
On Tuesday grief stricken they sang 'God Bless America'

On Monday we worried about the traffic and getting to work late
On Tuesday we worried about a plane crashing into your house or place of business

On Monday we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived
On Tuesday we saw people celebrating people dying in the USA

On Monday some children had solid families
On Tuesday they were orphans

On Monday the president was going to Florida to read to children
On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect our children

On Monday we e-mailed jokes
On Tuesday we did not

It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into
perspective, but it has.  The lessons learned this week, the things we
have taken for granted, the things that have been forgotten or overlooked,
hopefully will never be forgotten again.

On Monday - pray and be thankful
On Tuesday - pray and be thankful
On Wednesday - pray and be thankful
On Thursday - pray and be thankful
On Friday - pray and be thankful
On Saturday - pray and be thankful
On Sunday - pray and be thankful
